10th Anniversary International Forum ATOMEXPO 2018 opened on the premises of the Main Media Centre in Sochi on 14th May 2018.

The following persons have taken part in the official opening ceremony of the Forum: Aleksei Likhachev, Director General of the State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM; Yukiya Amano, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency; William D. Magwood IV, Director General, OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA); Agneta Rising, Director General of World Nuclear Association (WNA); Jacques Regaldo, Chair of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO); Dmitry Mezentsev, Chair of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Committee on Economic Policy.

Aleksei Likhachev started the opening ceremony with the following statement: “Our Forum reflects a constantly growing interest in the nuclear energy industry, which is the most important and integral part of the green power generation. This year the Forum hosts representatives from 66 countries and more than 40 national delegations. The main topic of our Anniversary Forum — “Global partnership — joint success”. And it is true so because collaboration, cooperation, establishing long-term partnership relations enable us all to develop and move forward together while strengthening the ground of the green power generation, an integral part of which is nuclear industry”.

Aleksei Likhachev noticed that the goal of the Forum is “to make a new bold step forward in terms of development of all of the nuclear competences in the global nuclear industry”.

In turn, IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano has noted the importance of ATOMEXPO and the great role which Russia plays in the development of the world nuclear industry. "I have seen with my own eyes Russian industry being developed, new power units and accelerators being built. It is important for the IAEA to support the development of the nuclear industry, especially the efforts of the countries-newcomers, and therefore we are supporting this forum holding" he said.

The Forum discussed the formats of partnerships in the nuclear sphere, environmental problems, an emergence of new centres for nuclear energy growth. The participants of the discussion also touched on the problems of new high-tech technologies development and security issues, and the trends of nuclear energy development for the next 10 years.
