Electric Scooters; a Change for the Better

The daily commute is a fact of everyday life and is seen as something to be endured, rather than enjoyed. Who can genuinely say they look forward to being stuck in traffic for hours on end? Not only that, the ugly truth of the matter is that the amount of vehicles on the road is undoubtedly damaging the environment and people’s health. This impact on the planet can be significantly reduced with the use of electric scooters, now an increasingly popular choice.

Perhaps you may already have considered buying an electric scooter, but dismissed it as being more of a toy, a hobby, rather than a serious contender for your commute to work. This could really not be any less true; an electric scooter has many benefits, not only on the environment but financially too. With the advances in technology, today’s electric scooters can have a ride time of up to 40 minutes on just one overnight charge. Imagine how much money you could save, by not having to refuel your car endlessly, solely for your commute.

You could also be pleasantly surprised to learn, that they can have a top speed of up to 18 miles per hour, and yet have zero-emissions. Obviously, their carbon footprint is extremely low, and this is set to decrease as studies continue into low-carbon electricity production. As a novice rider, you may be wondering how to upgrade your commute with electric scooters and what you need to look for when buying.

As you will primarily be using your electric scooter for the daily commute, rather than for leisure, the battery is a significant consideration. A more substantial scooter will take the weight of the battery, without any detriment to the handling, and daily use will require more robust wheels. Of course, your budget level will come into play, but most models are surprisingly affordable, and you will have the satisfaction of knowing you are helping the environment.

Will the advent of electric scooters change commuting for good? This remains to be seen, but the encouraging signs are that people are taking the initiative to help the environment, and regain control of the drudgery of the daily commute
