The prestigious Global Water Awards, part of the Global Water Summit 2018, were recently announced and two of the most coveted awards went to Metito, the global provider for total intelligent water management solutions.

Metito was awarded the ‘Desalination Company of the Year-Distinction’ for its groundbreaking work in the area of desalination. In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Metito is developing King Abdullah Economic City mega seawater desalination plant that utilizes the reverse osmosis technology and is partially powered by solar power. This project marks yet another milestone in the Kingdom’s path to realizing its 2030 Vision. In Egypt, Metito developed the country’s largest seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant to date serving more than 500,000 residents and is currently working on even bigger capacity projects all aimed at fortifying Egypt’s water security and growing needs.

The ‘Water Deal of the Year’ award was also given to Sub-Saharan Africa’s first bulk water supply Public Private Partnership (PPP) project in Kigali-Rwanda being developed by Kigali Water Ltd. (KWL), a fully owned subsidiary of Metito. The Government of Rwanda awarded the project in 2014 after an international competitive bid and the project achieved financial close in November 2017. This marks a historic moment and a milestone in Rwanda’s progressive vision to build an economic, prosperous and first class developed country and paves the way to other similar capital-intensive projects in Africa.

“We are honored to receive these distinguished international water awards from one of the industry’s most credible organizations, Global Water Intelligence. It is with immense pride that we are able play an active role in empowering communities around the world through developing strategic water projects and pioneering business models that enable such capital-intensive water projects to be executed,” commented Rami Ghandour, Metito Managing Director.

Metito was the only company to receive two awards at the 2018 Global Water Awards. For more information and the full list of the 2018 Global Water Awards winners, visit https://globalwaterawards.com/2018-winners/.
