Dubai Investments has unveiled colour in a new solar panel innovation which sets new standards in sustainability, at the 7th World Future Energy Summit [WFES] currently under way in Abu Dhabi.

The breakthrough technology, which reinforces Dubai Investments’ commitment to sustainable business practices, is being manufactured by its subsidiary Emirates Insolaire, part of Glass LLC – the glass pioneers in the Middle East. Launched in November 2013, Emirates Insolaire is a joint venture with SwissINSO SA, a Switzerland-based pioneer in solar technologies and products.

Optimized for both photovoltaic modules and solar thermal collectors, the Emirates Insolaire solar glass, feasible in virtually any colour, opens up new aesthetic opportunities to the Building Integrated Photovoltaic [BIPV] and Building Integrated Solar Thermal [BIST] sectors. Each coloured solar PV module produced with KromatixTM technology can generate over 130 Watts electric power per square meter on roof installations or over 100 Watts electric power per square metre on façades.

Facilitating this sustainable model, another DI subsidiary Emirates Glass LLC [EGL], part of the GLASS LLC group , is the exclusive supplier of energy-efficient glass in the Eco-Villa, a life-sized villa showcasing eco-friendly products set up in the Sustainable Living Area at the WFES. EGL is also the exclusive provider of glass for the Eco-Hotel, a model hotel suite developed by Rotana Hotels.

Ziad Yazbeck, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing at Glass LLC, said: “In line with the green initiatives undertaken by the UAE government to diversify energy sources, we at Dubai Investments are proud to unveil a new breakthrough technology at the WFES. The panels manufactured by Emirates Insolaire are set to bring in a new paradigm shift in solar technology, and transform the manner in which we use solar energy at our homes, offices and commercial buildings. This is a great platform to showcase our expertise to potential partners from across the globe.”

He added: “Emirates Glass has also spearheaded the cause of sustainability for many years and this year, we have translated this green vision to the Eco-Hotel, apart from the Eco-Villa – laying the foundation for us to make intelligent investments for the future generations.”

Rafic Hanbali, Managing Partner, Emirates Insolaire, will also make a presentation on ‘Building Integrated Photovoltaics: How buildings will produce their own energy needs’ at the Sustainable Living Theatre within WFES on 22nd January at 11:10am.

At the exhibition, EGL is highlighting the Emicool® E-Lite range of products - a high performance solar control coating which is applied to clear float glass and offers the designer a unique choice of aesthetics.

The WFES, which is being held as part of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, will continue at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre [ADNEC] till January 22, 2014. Being held under the theme ‘Powering the Future of Energy Innovation and Investment’, WFES is the centerpiece of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, the largest gathering on sustainability in the Middle East.
