ECAT to organise Arab Sustainable Development Week in April

The Environment Centre for Arab Towns, ECAT, that operates under Dubai Municipality, will organise the first Arab Sustainable Development Week on 22nd April, which will last for five days.

Hussain Al Fardan, Director of ECAT, said that the agenda of the first Arab Sustainable Development Week includes important points of the sustainability goals of Arab cities and the welfare of their citizens as well as keeping pace with the international agendas in city development.

"The agenda includes Environment and Sustainable Development, Smart Cities, Green Development, Green and Smart Transport, Energy and Renewable Energy and the innovative sustainable projects in cooperation with our partners, the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, Smart Dubai Office, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Dubai Sustainable City and Dubai Municipality," he said.

Al Fardan added that the field visit programme will be full of learning from the iconic sustainable projects implemented in the UAE, and will include visits to the Solar Energy Farm, Dubai Sustainable City, the aquaculture project in Umm Al Quwain, Dubai Metro and Tram, the Methane project and the Waste to Energy project.

"The five-day programme also includes lectures and work papers on best practices, policies, legislations, technologies and sustainable development projects by our partners from some institutions, ministries and departments within the country, followed by a field visit to one of the projects," he said.
