Empower, the world’s largest district cooling services provider, participated in the 9th Car Free Day initiative of Dubai. The initiative has been patronised by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, and organised by Dubai Municipality. It aims to encourage the use of public transport to commute to work, and contribute to reducing the effects of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) and climate change.Empower employees participated in the initiative by using public transport and cycling on the day. The company arranged special buses to get to and from the office. This underlines Empower’s commitment towards the community, and its efforts to promote sustainable development, thus enhancing the quality of life for the UAE‘s citizens and residents.

The Car-Free Day initiative is the first of its kind in the region. Empower is keen on annually participating in the initiative, along with other organisations and community members, to reduce carbon emissions and preserve the environment. This supports the sustainable development goals of the UAE Vision 2021, as well as the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, which aim to make Dubai the city with the lowest carbon footprint," said Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower.
