Whether you have ten acres or ten metres, making the most of your outside space is one of the best ways to further enjoy your home. Some techniques for enhancing these spaces can cost a lot upfront but should be considered as worthwhile and long-term investments. Some other top tips are cost-effective and require minimal effort. So, let’s not beat around the bush and get straight into it…

1. Don’t Abandon Gardening Duties
It goes without saying that an incredible outdoor space is made up with beautiful colourful flowers, nice aromas and tidy hedges. If thinking about all this gardening has you sweating, consider the easier ways out that require less work and maintenance, including:
• Choose low-maintenance flowers or fake flower
• Adopt a minimalist theme
• Hire a professional gardener

2. Make A Sitting Area
A lovely outdoor sitting space is fantastic for entertaining guests on a summer’s evening or for those Sunday barbeques. You may also want to consider making a reading nook in a shaded space. This could be done with conventional garden furniture or something more unique like a hammock. There’s no point having a beautiful garden if you don’t spend time in it – and appreciate it.

3. Keep It Yours
Outdoor spaces are much more enjoyable when they are all yours. Of course, we are not referring to shared gardens. We are in fact talking about privacy. Preventing neighbours from seeing into your garden or sitting areas can help you drift off in your oasis and forget where you are. This is best achieved with tall trees or high fences. Both also enhance the security of your property.

4. Think About Your Garage
Your garage may not be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about improving your outside space. Yet, the door on your garage can go a long way to merging with the earthy or rustic aesthetics of your garden. There are lots of garden door styles to pick from, but roller doors are a great choice to match your garden.
These aluminium designs can be enhanced with a timber effect that sits well the wood made to use flower beds and garden decking. Considering the often-unconsidered surroundings like these can really add detail to your outside space.

5. Create Art
There are some quirky inclusions in your garden that require minimal physical effort but just a drop of creativity – and they can transform perceptions of the space. Some people like to make scenes from their favourite books and films or create scenes of picnics using old teapots, watering cans or garden gnomes. Whatever you decide, make it unique and fun.

Naturally, you don’t have to do all of these things to make your outside space enjoyable. Whatever you choose to do, make sure the space works with your preferences and the way you wish to use it. From a glass of red and your latest read to a family gathering, outdoor spaces can be truly wonderful.
