Ghaya Grand Hotel commits to create greater impact to protect the planet Earth

Ghaya Grand Hotel has joined millions in the biggest environmental event of the year which saw electric lights in more than 7,000 cities in 162 countries worldwide switched off in a symbolic gesture of support for a green agenda initiated by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
Between 08.30pm and 09.30pm on March 30th, lights were switched off around the globe, from the Sydney Opera House in Australia, Eiffel Tower in Paris, Times Square in New York to Burj Khalifa in Dubai. But the success of the event was demonstrated by widespread support from both individuals and corporate entities such as the Ghaya Grand Hotel. According to, Earth Hour is now the largest grassroots movement for the environment, inspiring millions of people to take action for our planet and nature as accelerating climate change and staggering biodiversity loss threaten our planet.
“We are proud to be taking this initiative as a way to speak up why nature matters. The results go beyond saving energy for 60 minutes. The real achievement of Earth Hour is boosting awareness of what needs to be done to protect the future of our planet.” Says Mr. Olwin Desouza, General Manager of Ghaya Grand Hotel. “Our planet’s gain is everyone’s gain, indeed.” He added.
Ghaya Grand Hotel is proactive in promoting a sustainable and socially responsible organization in the UAE by its commitment on reducing carbon-emission, reducing water consumption and waste management disposal, removal of plastic straw and sustainably sourcing meat, poultry, produce, seafood and cotton. Ghaya Grand Hotel is also active in supporting local, small and minority-owned suppliers, supporting programs for women and youth, partnering with local organizations and schools, regular support for natural disaster relief efforts and Advance Human Rights capabilities to eradicate forced labour and trafficking.
