Managers can now record how much carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions are being released through the Fleet Management Systems & Technologies’ (FMS Tech) new tracking and reporting system. FMS Tech is on a mission to solve environmental concerns caused by trucks and fleets on the road today.
According to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UNESCWA), the transport sector is responsible for 23 percent of CO2 emissions in the Arab countries and three-fourths of the transport related emissions are from road traffic. It also states that the CO2 emissions is the fastest growing environmental concern in the GCC and around the world, and Arab countries rank second after China with the fastest growth.
Around 60 tons of CO2 is produced every month out of which 35 percent are caused by station wagons, 30 percent by pickups, 16 percent by trucks, 13 percent by buses and 6 percent by saloons.
Presently, fleet managers can only pull a rough estimate of the carbon footprint and there is no accurate record. The information for the entire fleet is unknown without the installation of the powerful FMS Tech hardware and software. This technology automatically generates a CO2 report which details the monthly CO2 emissions, vehicles which are the cause for higher emissions and vehicles which are performing well with lower emissions.
