1 Million Trees Initiative in the UAE
Henrik Winther, sustainability pioneer and the founder and owner of Tigrus Restaurant Holding, has started the 1 Million Trees Planting Initiative in the UAE to support the company’s sustainability goals. With help from guests at Osteria Mario and Shvili, as well as The Storey Group and EcoMatcher, the project began by planting mangroves in Ajman in partnership with the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department. When guests dine at the restaurant, they can sponsor a tree and use an app to follow its growth, making the program open and easy for everyone to join.
Adult Cooking Classes at Osteria Mario and Shvili
Shvili and Osteria Mario, known for their children’s masterclasses, now offer cooking classes for adults to join in the fun, but these classes focus on more advanced dishes. You can learn to make traditional Georgian Khinkali, a dumpling filled with juicy meat or cheese for non-meat eaters, and how to carefully handmake them, mastering the perfect seal at the top to keep all the delicious ingredients inside.
Another dish available to try your hand at is Khachapuri, a traditional Georgian bread made with soft white dough, filled with cheese, and often topped with an egg added at just the right time to allow the yolk to ooze. The class also includes a meal of Lavash bread, a choice of soup, a side, the dish you prepared in the class, a half portion of Napoleon cake and a drink.
If you prefer Italian food, Osteria Mario also offers a pizza-making class, where you learn to make the perfect crispy dough and create the most flavourful topping combinations. After the session, you can enjoy a meal with the group that includes a Caesar or Greek Salad, the pizza you prepared during the class and a half portion of freshly baked Napoleon dessert with a drink.
Each class includes clear, step-by-step guidance, and with the option to book weekly sessions or private bookings, there are plenty of opportunities to try your hand at learning a new recipe.
Kids cooking birthday celebrations at Osteria Mario &Shvili Abu Dhabi
Celebrate at Osteria Mario and Shvili, and book their new children’s birthday packages that include hands-on craft activities, cooking workshops, and fun in the sustainable play areas available at each location.
Osteria Mario hosts interactive pizza-making parties with face painting, entertainment from an animator, cake-cutting, and group singing, ending with a pizza feast. Packages are AED 109 per child from Monday to Thursday and AED 139 per child from Friday to Sunday at Dubai Festival City Mall or Dubai Hills Mall.
Shvili Abu Dhabi offers a similar package that includes hands-on cooking workshops or sweet treat-making, face painting, animator entertainment, cake-cutting, and a dedicated play area. A place for kids to play and adults to relax, Shvili is the perfect place to host a wholesome party. Packages are AED 99 per child from Monday to Thursday and AED 129 per child from Friday to Sunday at The Galleria Al Maryah Island in Abu Dhabi.
