ENOC Group, a leading integrated global energy player, has announced its broader progress in sustainability, energy efficiency, resource management and water conservation on the sidelines of its participation in the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) 2026, held under the theme “At the Forefront of Sustainability”. During the exhibition, the Group is highlighting how sustained investments, innovative technologies and responsible resource management are improving energy performance, reducing emissions and waste, expanding renewable energy integration, reducing freshwater demand, and increasing water reuse and resource recovery across its operations.

Since 2014, ENOC has improved energy efficiency by 21.7% and reduced greenhouse gas emissions intensity by 11.5%, avoiding a cumulative 1.47 million tCO₂e (tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent). Over the same period, the Group has generated more than AED 478 million in cumulative savings through Energy and Resource Management (E&RM) initiatives and invested AED 156.05 million in E&RM initiatives. Renewable energy integration has delivered more than AED 75 million in cumulative savings since 2017, while ENOC achieved a waste recycling rate of 65.24% in 2025.

Building on this broader sustainability and resource-efficiency performance, ENOC continues to integrate water conservation into its operations, with measurable progress in reducing freshwater consumption and expanding the reuse of treated water. In 2025, ENOC recycled 688,785 m³ of treated water across its operations, equivalent to an estimated 275 Olympic-sized swimming pools, achieving a water recycling rate of 24.45%. Water intensity stood at 0.0491 m³ per tonne of product, a reduction of approximately 20.4% since 2014. This progress is supported by initiatives across ENOC’s value chain, including refinery and plant operations, service station car washes and LPG facilities.

ENOC’s work is aligned with the UAE Water Security Strategy 2036, which targets a 21% reduction in total water demand and an increase in the reuse of treated water to 95% by 2036.

Hussain Sultan Lootah, Group Chief Executive Officer, ENOC Group, said: “Water security and responsible resource management are fundamental to the long-term resilience and competitiveness of the energy and industrial sectors, where water is essential to critical processes and operational continuity. As demand for energy and industrial output grows, so does the responsibility to use resources more efficiently, reduce pressure on freshwater supplies and integrate sustainable practices across the value chain.

“At ENOC, we are embedding this approach into our operations through practical solutions that expand water reuse, minimize waste and maximize resource efficiency. Our participation at WETEX 2026 provides an important platform to demonstrate how these efforts are translating into measurable progress, while contributing to the UAE’s long-term water security and sustainability ambitions.”

Across its integrated energy value chain, ENOC is adopting water management solutions for the specific needs of its businesses, from refining and industrial processing to fuel distribution and retail. These initiatives focus on reducing reliance on freshwater, maximizing the reuse of treated water and recovering valuable resources from operational processes.

At the midstream level, ENOC is expanding opportunities to reuse treated wastewater and reduce demand for freshwater in resource-intensive operations. At its Jebel Ali refinery, approximately 72,389 m³ of treated wastewater was redirected for irrigation and supply to industrial users in 2025, thereby reducing demand for freshwater for these applications and generating approximately AED 812,107 in estimated annual cost savings, demonstrating how wastewater treatment can extend the value of water to support more efficient resource utilization across industries.

This approach extends to ENOC’s downstream operations, where water recycling systems are being integrated into activities with recurring water requirements. Across its service station network, auto car wash recycling systems recovered 527,043 m³ of treated water in 2025, achieving a recycling rate of 67.6%. At Emirates Gas, water from LPG bullet cleaning is retained for reuse in subsequent cleaning cycles where suitable, while water from cylinder-cleaning operations is recirculated as appropriate.

Within its gas operations, ENOC is also implementing treatment and reuse solutions designed for specific processes. Dubai Natural Gas Company Limited (DUGAS) recycled or reused approximately 50,053 m³ of treated wastewater in 2025, achieving an 18.2% recycling and reuse rate.

Beyond water reuse, ENOC is strengthening resource recovery practices to minimize waste and maximise the value of materials generated across its operations. At its terminals, aviation operations and ENOC Lubricants & Grease Manufacturing Plant facilities (ELOMP), oily-water separation systems support the responsible management of operational waste streams, with recoverable slops transferred to approved recycling and recovery contractors. In 2025, approximately 3,273 tonnes of slops were transferred for approved recycling or recovery, supporting more efficient use of resources and responsible waste management.

ENOC is complementing these large-scale operational initiatives with targeted improvements at the facility level. At Dubai Lubricants Processing Plant (DLPP), the introduction of a water purification and softening system has significantly reduced reliance on bottled water and is expected to generate approximately AED 15,000 in annual savings.

ENOC’s participation at WETEX will provide a platform to engage with government entities, industry partners and customers to strengthen water security, improve industrial efficiency and advance resource recovery.
