The United Arab Emirates participated this week in World Water Week 2026 in Stockholm, as part of preparations for the 2026 United Nations Water Conference, which will be held in Abu Dhabi this December. The UAE participated with an official delegation led by Abdulla Balalaa, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Energy and Sustainability. The delegation joined international leaders, executives from the financial and business sectors, policymakers, researchers, and representatives of civil society to take part in one of the world’s foremost gatherings on water, sustainability, and development.

In the presence of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD), EAD has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Abu Dhabi Nature Academy to launch an integrated training programme that strengthens rangers’ capabilities in the Sheikh Zayed Protected Areas Network and supports the effective and sustainable management of protected areas.

The Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX) 2026 is highlighting the close connection between heritage and sustainability, with participating institutions at its 23rd edition, which opened yesterday, showcasing traditional environmental practices that reflect Emirati society’s awareness of the value of resources and the importance of preserving them, alongside the use of modern technologies and solutions to improve resource efficiency and support the transition to a circular economy.

Under the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD), the agency has issued an administrative decision extending the season for fishing with fixed-gear, known locally as Al Hadhra, across the waters of Abu Dhabi until 31st October 2026.

Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) in association with Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and the Advancing Net Zero Volunteering Team successfully convened a panel discussion under the theme “Green Infrastructure and Retrofitting: Upgrading the Built Environment for Net Zero,”. Khalifa University of Science and Technology on Thursday announced the launch of the Khalifa University–UNESCO Global Water Hackathon 2026, a research-driven international initiative bringing together university students from around the world with researchers, industry experts and policymakers to develop practical solutions to pressing global water challenges.
