What comes after the “most wonderful time of the year”? Normally, lots of festive waste. And ACE, the leading home improvement & outdoor retailer, is here to ignite real change in 2022.
Partnering with YES Full Circle, an eco-minded local recycling service company, for the second year in a row – ACE will be kicking off the new year on a sustainable note. Following the inspiring success of its Treecycle campaign in January 2021, the CSR campaign will return in January 2022.
Treecycle will return to ACE’s Dubai Festival City, Festival Plaza, and Yas store from January 2 to January 22. All fresh trees dropped off at ACE, whether they have been purchased at ACE or elsewhere, will be recycled into compost – free of charge – and then donated to schools and educational institutions.
Keeping beloved festive traditions sustainable
The harsh reality of the festive season is that fresh Christmas trees eventually make their way into local landfills. Putting up fresh trees is a beloved seasonal tradition, especially in the UAE where Christmas trees need to be imported.
ACE understands the value of maintaining festive traditions. It equally understands the importance of preserving the environment. This is why it was particularly delighted to play a role in saving 300 fresh trees from going to waste. Instead, its Treecycle initiative responsibly recycled these trees into compost. Visitors then collected their compost bags for their plants at home.
Sowing the seed of a greener future
This year, ACE is taking this community initiative one step further. Treecycle will be donating compost created from fresh trees to local schools.
Shining light on the importance of creating a sustainable loop, Treecycle will teach children about the timely importance of recycling and keeping their environment green. It will also help nurture a greener environment at local schools, setting an idyllic backdrop for the eco-conscious adults of tomorrow.
Known for being the helpful place, Treecycle is just one of several ways in which ACE gives back to the community. It also offers a complimentary e-waste recycling service while gradually pivoting to greener packaging.
