Carrier: Meeting Saudi Energy Challenges Head On

Energy use is a major topic of discussion worldwide but especially in Saudi Arabia where a focus on reducing energy consumption has become a priority. At HVACR Expo Saudi 2017, running at the Jeddah Centre for Forum & Events from 15 – 17 January, high efficiency products and energy savings will take center stage so it is fitting that Carrier, a pioneer in modern air conditioning and among the first HVAC companies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is this year’s Platinum Sponsor.

This is the second consecutive year that Carrier has sponsored the event and they bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in this area. A company known for its deep commitment to energy conservation, and based on a study by the U.S. Department of Energy, Carrier recognizes that green buildings consume 25 percent less energy and 11 percent less water than average commercial buildings and have tailored their products to accommodate this.

“Our research has found that improving the energy efficiency of a company’s building portfolio increases the productivity of existing assets, protecting against future energy price hikes and offering an attractive return on investment,” says Giorgio Elia, vice president, UTC Climate, Controls & Security, Middle East. “The higher initial investment in energy efficient buildings is offset by long-term savings.”

An increased focus on energy efficiency coupled with tougher benchmarks by Saudi Standards, Quality and Metrology Organization (SASO) over the past few years have boosted awareness of energy consumption.

“We believe this will drive advancements and help shape decisions for years to come,” says Elia. “At Carrier, we have sustainability at the core of our engineering philosophy and we pride ourselves on providing energy efficient products at competitive prices. HVAC customers are starting to look at the total cost of ownership rather than the transactional product price, which will eventually drive increased demand for innovation and more energy efficient products.”

HVACR Expo Saudi, held annually by dmg events, provides a perfect platform for industry leaders to engage with stakeholders to discuss the opportunities, innovations and sustainability issues in the industry and, in alignment with the Saudi Vision 2030, the Kingdom’s aggressive drive toward economic growth.

“With the key development of airports, the expansion of Haram religious sites, and Metro and rail projects, along with the need for smart building solutions, Carrier will continue to offer high efficiency sustainable products in line with the Saudi Vision 2030,” adds Elia.

Carrier’s focus on value and the total cost of ownership is backed by value engineering and innovations in processing and manufacturing, allowing it to provide quality products at competitive prices. The company offers a wide portfolio of sustainable products and services thanks to the company’s global R&D investments aimed at advancing energy efficiency, ozone protection and low global warming technologies, including:

• Carrier’s AquaEdge™ centrifugal chiller is a high efficiency product with a quiet operation. Ideal for district cooling plants, large commercial applications and mega sites needing chlorine free refrigerant, it has a capacity up to 3,000 tons.

• The variable refrigerant flow XPower Series from Carrier achieves high-end energy efficiency in cooling and heating by utilizing all direct current inverter compressors, fan motors and high efficiency heat-exchangers. This also allows for the easy installation and combination of up to 40 indoor fan coil units with a single outdoor condensing unit.

• Other Carrier high-efficiency solutions include the Desert Master™ rooftop package, a Eurovent-certified Airovision™ air handling unit, thermal storage systems, airside with superior indoor air quality and hygienic options, and the latest controls and connectivity to optimize energy consumption.

“We have a wide range of products to cater to all sizes of residential and commercial projects across the country from residential duct free split systems and variable refrigerant flow systems to chillers for district cooling plants,” says Elia.

And, as always, it’s done with an eye toward energy efficiency. Carrier is a founding member of Green Building Councils in the U.S., Argentina, China, France, India, Kuwait, Singapore and South Africa and is a member of the Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait Green Building Councils.

“Our company is licensed as an Education Partner to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) curriculum and we have trained hundreds of people in the region. As part of United Technologies Corporation, we foster a culture of continuous improvement,” states Elia.

“We use our ACE operating system which focuses on the drivers of competitive excellence to achieve the highest levels of performance, from developing new products to finding better ways to serve our customers.”

This dedication to the customer extends to after sales service as well.

“After sales support is extremely important to Carrier and is a key differentiator for our business,” says Elia. “Our technicians are certified as Carrier Specialists or Masters – each trained on our products, customer service and thoroughly tested to our standards.”

“We invite all visitors, end users and contractors in attendance to meet with our consultants for a unique opportunity to discuss Carrier’s expertise and share in our industry insights.”

Carrier Saudi enjoys a wide geographic reach with multiple warehouses across the Kingdom, including three parts showrooms and an extensive network of dealers. Carrier Saudi also has a new call center with an interactive voice response system. Carrier operates in Saudi Arabia through Arabian Air Conditioning Company and Carrier Saudi Service Company, its joint venture companies with E.A. Juffali & Brothers.

Organised by dmg events Middle East, Asia & Africa, HVAC R Expo Saudi 2017 is the Kingdom’s largest dedicated indoor climate and refrigeration event. The show is co-located with FM Expo Saudi and Saudi Clean Expo, the only dedicated Facilities Management, Cleaning, and Hygiene exhibition in Saudi Arabia, and is open from 16:00 to 22:00 daily.
