In 2017, 1.4 million items were exchanged on dubizzle, directly contributing to saving over 2.6 million tons of CO2 emissions. This figure is equivalent to an additional 500,000 passenger vehicles driven for one year, which is equivalent to approximately a third of all cars on the road in Dubai today.
These insights were revealed in an exclusive dubizzle report* done examining dubizzle transactions for the year 2017.** Select insights from the report were released in the run-up to World Environment Day on June 5, 2017. All stages in the life-cycle of a product until it reaches the user were considered for some of the most traded product categories on dubizzle, such as furniture, cars and electronics.

dubizzle’s commitment to extending the life of products and reducing its carbon footprint is in line with the UAE’s Clean Energy Strategy 2050***. Through this strategy, the government has committed to increasing clean energy in the total energy mix to 50 per cent by 2050 and reduce carbon footprint of power generation by 70 percent. It also seeks to increase consumption efficiency of individuals and corporates by 40 percent.
