As summer temperatures continue to rise, Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation PJSC (Empower), the world’s largest district cooling services provider, is encouraging residential, commercial, and individual customers to adopt simple daily energy-saving practices. These measures can help maintain indoor comfort throughout the summer season while improving energy efficiency, reducing energy consumption costs, and contributing to lower carbon emissions.
The company urged its customers to follow the recommended guidelines throughout the summer season to maximise the efficiency and sustainability of cooling services. Key recommendations include setting the air conditioner thermostat to 24°C, the optimal level for balancing comfort and energy efficiency; ensuring that doors and windows remain tightly closed to prevent cool air from escaping; keeping curtains closed during peak daylight hours to minimise direct sunlight; reducing the use of heat-generating household appliances during the day; and carrying out regular maintenance of air conditioning units to ensure optimal performance and efficient air distribution.
Empower highlighted the importance of preparing homes and facilities for the summer season through preventive maintenance of air conditioning systems. This includes regularly cleaning air filters and inspecting both indoor and outdoor units to ensure they are free from any obstructions that could affect performance. The company also emphasised the importance of maintaining adequate ventilation, particularly in kitchens, utility rooms, electrical rooms and equipment areas, to reduce heat and humidity build-up, minimise strain on equipment, and enhance operational efficiency and performance during peak demand periods.
