On the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the unification of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces, marked on Wednesday, 6 May 2026, His Excellency Dr. Abdulla Humaid Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, expressed pride in this national milestone, which reflects the UAE’sleadership vision in building a unified and highly capable military institution founded on discipline, operational excellence and constant readiness, entrusted with safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and protecting its achievements.
His Excellency stated: “The decision to unify the Armed Forces in 1976 was a defining moment in our nation’s history. It laid the foundations for an integrated defence system and established a lasting model that embodies the true spirit of the Union. This system has been shaped by a clear strategic vision grounded in long-term planning, continuous development, and the ability to adapt to evolving regional and global dynamics. Over the years, our Armed Forces have demonstrated exceptional capability in protecting the nation, reinforcing its security and stability, and strengthening the UAE’s position as a trusted partner on the international stage.”
He added: “Over the past five decades, the role of our Armed Forces has extended beyond the protection of national borders to contributing to regional stability and participating in humanitarian and international missions. This reflects the UAE’s balanced and responsible approach to advancing peace and security at both regional and global levels. In a rapidly evolving environment, this underscores the importance of high readiness and institutional integration in safeguarding national interests and ensuring stability. Our Armed Forces have consistently fulfilled this role, including supporting the security of critical trade routes and supply chains, reinforcing confidence in regional stability and highlighting the UAE’s central role in supporting global energy security.”
In this context, He emphasised that national security is an integrated system where defence security is closely linked to energy and water security, as essential pillars of sustainable development and economic continuity. He noted that the Department of Energy continues to advance regulatory frameworks and policies that ensure the reliable, secure, and sustainable delivery of energy and water services, strengthening the nation’s preparedness and its ability to respond effectively to evolving challenges while supporting long-term economic diversification.
He further stated: “The achievements realised by the United Arab Emirates are the result of a clear leadership vision, strong institutional integration, and the unwavering commitment of our people, foremost among them the members of our Armed Forces, who embody the highest standards of discipline and dedication. On this occasion, we honor the sacrifices of the nation’s martyrs, with pride and gratitude. Their legacy remains an enduring source of inspiration for generations to come.”
His Excellency concluded by renewing the pledge of loyalty to the wise leadership and reaffirming the commitment to advancing the nation’s comprehensive security framework and supporting the UAE’s continued progress and sustainable development, while praying for the continued prosperity and protection of the UAE and its people.
