Commemorated annually on 18 March, Global Recycling Dayupholds the importance of recycling across the globe. While the aim is to encourage businesses, communities, and individuals to adopt sustainable practices for a better environment, it is key to engage the conversation through brands that have established organizational standards in this space.Aligning with this social conduct is Saba Plant-Based – a homegrown vegan and organic healthy food brand that offers a range of probiotic Kombucha and non-dairy Cocogurtyoghurt products in recyclable and biodegradable packaging.

The brand recently launched Cocogurt Drink comes in a 100% biodegradable and compostable bottle made entirely from sugarcane and plant derivatives – a first of its kind in the region. Its ability to decompose within 24-48 hours in organic waste, results in a 50% less emission of harmful climate-effecting greenhouse gas than traditional plastic bottles, that according to Emirates Nature WWF*, can take up to 450 years to decompose.

“At Saba Plant-Based, we made it a firm mission to ensure our products are healthy but also environmentally friendly by operational default. As part of the firm’s carbon footprint reduction efforts, it’s great to see an increasing number of eco-conscious brands entering the market and strengthening the country’s sustainable business practices.Collectively working together, we can combat environmental issues and promote adapting to zero-plastic practices through wider education and adapted products and processes,” said Sabrina Hamdoune, co-founder of Saba Plant-Based.

In addition, Saba Plant-Based’s Kombucha and Cocogurt Yoghurt is available in glass bottles and jars that can be easily recycled and reused for various purposes. As per the Emirates Nature WWF, the average person in the UAE consumes 94kg of plastic per year*, most of which comprises single-use plastic bottles, leading to excessive unrecycled plastic waste that becomes hazardous to the environment. The bottles and jars can be used in many ways from storing spices in the kitchen, to using them as small flowerpots and more.

Saba Plant-Based holds the Eco-Label – an ISO certification that signifies the use of eco-conscious and sustainable practices to source and manufacture their products.

With a core brand mission of providing consumers with healthy and delicious products, Saba Plant-Based will also continue its efforts to encourage consumers to choose eco-conscious products and brands for overall wellness, waste reduction, and a sustainable lifestyle.
