In a bid to reduce waste during one of the most indulgent times of year, HeroGo has announced the launch of its ‘Festive Box’ featuring all the vegetables you need for the perfect Christmas spread – while rescuing ‘ugly’ produce.
In the UAE alone, 1 million tonnes of perfectly good food is wasted every year, often because of the ‘ugly problem’ – this bit of veg is ‘too big’, one is ‘too small’, and one has a ‘funny shape’. Other reasons for unnecessary wastage is that food is too close to its sell-by date, it’s excess produce that’s not needed, the packaging is out of date, or other cosmetic reasons, like unusual colouring.
