By participating in the ACA Program – the only voluntary global carbon management standard for airports – QAIA joins a community of over 300 airports spurring climate action within the aviation sector. “While this latest accreditation comes at a particularly difficult period during which COVID-19 has severely impacted the air transport industry, climate protection remains a strategic objective for Airport International Group and QAIA, as we strive to offer a sustainable airport to our passengers and stakeholders alike,” explained Airport International Group CEO, Nicolas Claude.
In its local climate protection activities, QAIA seeks to lead by example, paving the way for the development and implementation of environmental management systems and greener resource management across Jordan. “We have long been conscious of our role and responsibility towards protecting the climate and cutting our carbon emissions. For this reason, since 2013, we have been determined to achieve and maintain the different levels of the international ACA Program. This accreditation is most important in the current context of the COVID-19 pandemic recovery, particularly since our stakeholders will have high expectations regarding the environmental impact of the air transport industry within the upcoming period. With QAIA being carbon neutral as it continuously implements eco-friendly actions to reduce its carbon footprint, we are well-positioned to attract greater passenger flows in the future.
