The Body Shop became the first cosmetics company to source sustainable harvested palm oil and introduced it to the beauty industry, through partnering up with a certified organic producer in Colombia.
They introduced 100 percent post consumer recycled bottles. All their other polyethylene terephthalate bottles currently have 30% recycled material, with a target to convert to 100 percent in the next 12 months.

The Body Shop uses a 'Community Trade' program creating sustainable trading relationships with disadvantaged communities around the world, which provides income to more than 25,000 people all over the globe.
The Body Shop is continuing to raise awareness and funding for women across the world affected by violence. Their campaign “Stop Violence In The Home” runs in more than 55 countries and has raised $4 million in the US alone.
In 2008 they continued to raise awareness of HIV and AIDS among teens by working with MTV Networks. The campaign funds the Staying Alive Foundation, Which is a grass roots organization supporting young people globally.
By end of 2010, The Body Shop intends on going completely Carbon Neutral, making sure that the carbon dioxide emissions from the organic company is reduced.

While doing all of this The Body Shop also strives to protect this beautiful planet and the people who depend on it, not because it's fashionable, but based on the belief that it's the only way to do business.
